Priorities

I’ve got a ton of things to do on my house to do list this weekend, but I’ve also got a tall stack of work to do because it’s tax season. I’m trying to make a good dent in the paying work first, but it’s hard to prioritize, knowing there’s so much to do.

Just because I love cold weather

Just because I love cold weather doesn’t mean I love being cold. I’m having issues warming up enough to work this morning.

Next weekend, I will have the house all to myself, and I will setup my work in front of a nice fire.

But that’s a few days away, and I need to warm up now!

Friday

This morning I finished my first tax return of the 2008 tax season. I’ve got quite a long to do list that will be waiting my return on Monday, but I think I’ll wait at least one week longer before starting to bring any work home.

Generally speaking, the real work wouldn’t normally hit for a few more weeks, but we picked up quite a few new clients last year, and it’s hard to judge how long their returns will take, especially because a certain amount of “catchup” will have to be done just to get them in our system.

But I guess that will wait until Monday. As for now, I just remembered I was supposed to leave early so I could go by the IRS office in Knoxville for some paperwork…

Why did I not see this coming?

I just ran out of pages in my calendar.

Call it a day

Sometimes, I feel like I should just call it a day and start over in the morning.

It’s not that I’m having a bad day, it’s just that I need a reboot.

It has begun

Tax season has begun for me, surprisingly earlier than last year. My to do list is growing faster than I can tackle it.

Unfortunately, there are still some things on the list that I was supposed to finish before now.

Such is life.

It’s hard to believe

I had C all day today. And yesterday she hung out with me at work. Two straight days of being solely in charge of baby. And the two days before that were the weekend.

A few minutes ago, I started thinking about getting ready for work in the morning: fill the tea kettle, lay out clothes, make sure baby bottles are clean…

Huh. Two straight days of no C at the office. What will I do with myself?

When will I get to play with my new toys?

I miss being off the day after Christmas. Maybe next year I should save up a holiday for the 26th of December.

Today, Katie is at home cleaning, and I hope C is being helpful; the house is absolutely trashed. But I’m back at work.

I’d so love to be at home cleaning, holding the baby, and playing with my new toys. At least this is an easy week at work.

Gotta sit back and relax

I keep finding myself leaning forward towards the computer, over my work, or staring out the window. And my stomach tells me I need to work on my posture. Maybe I need one of these?

Distractions

Ten minutes spent talking to clients leads to fifteen minutes of trying to figure out what I was working on and what I should be doing next.

I need to figure out a better system. I’m in this business in part because I’m an organized person; I can do better than this.
