Priorities
I’ve got a ton of things to do on my house to do list this weekend, but I’ve also got a tall stack of work to do because it’s tax season. I’m trying to make a good dent in the paying work first, but it’s hard to prioritize, knowing there’s so much to do.
But I love caffeine!
A few weeks ago, at the height of my recent tummy woes, I decided I needed to drastically reduce my caffeine intake. I’d been drinking probably eight cups of hot tea per day (black or green). I needed to know if the caffeine was causing my problems, definitely, but I also needed to make sure I wasn’t going to have caffeine withdrawal issues at the same time as stomach issues (because my stomach was hurting too much at times to drink tea).
Now I find myself down to one cup of tea a day - the lowest amount of caffeine per day that I’ve consumed since I was in middle school. And the weird thing is that although I love hot tea, I’m not really missing it.
But maybe I shouldn’t say that right at the beginning of tax season.
Friday
This morning I finished my first tax return of the 2008 tax season. I’ve got quite a long to do list that will be waiting my return on Monday, but I think I’ll wait at least one week longer before starting to bring any work home.
Generally speaking, the real work wouldn’t normally hit for a few more weeks, but we picked up quite a few new clients last year, and it’s hard to judge how long their returns will take, especially because a certain amount of “catchup” will have to be done just to get them in our system.
But I guess that will wait until Monday. As for now, I just remembered I was supposed to leave early so I could go by the IRS office in Knoxville for some paperwork…
It has begun
Tax season has begun for me, surprisingly earlier than last year. My to do list is growing faster than I can tackle it.
Unfortunately, there are still some things on the list that I was supposed to finish before now.
Such is life.
