Thank goodness for paperweights
I should be outside right now – at least that’s what the sun and wind are telling me. Luckily for me, I can (and do) open all my windows on nice days like today.
Thank goodness for paperweights.
Ok, this is getting old
Our power has been off for over an hour now, and I’m over it. It’s hard for us to get any work done without computers, printers, calculators, etc, and I can only assume the UPS will only keep the internet running for so long.
I’m still alive!
I’ve been unbelievably busy in the last week, and the only time I’ve had at the computer has been spent working. On Saturday, I helped my brother’s family move into their new home. After four hours of that, I came home and spent the rest of the day clearing out brush from my back yard to make room for a fence. Yesterday, the kids and I spent at least an hour making the biggest brush pile I think I’ve ever seen. I’m feeling muscles that have gone unnoticed for years.
And it’s about 60 degrees in this office right now, so in addition to soreness, my fingers are almost too cold to type.
I’ve got to find a way to warm up and get started working!
Small town charm
Our office closed for lunch today, so we could have our Christmas dinner. We forwarded the phone, locked the doors, and hit the road.
Except we didn’t lock the door. And when the mail lady came by and noticed no one was here, she dropped off the mail and locked the door behind her!
Now with baby
I convinced Katie that I should take the baby to work with me today, so I’m happy. She’s sitting beside me right now in her little bouncy seat, although I can tell its usefulness is waning. Katie is going to spend the day running errands in the car C hates, and I think C wouldn’t love helping her mama coordinate E’s school Christmas party, either.
But she’ll love hanging out with us at work today. Yay.
Tired of wasting time
Over the last week, I’ve spent countless unnecessary hours working on one client. Part of the problem is that I’m not as experienced on this kind of return as I am in others, but most of the time lost is due to interpreting what the client’s previous accountant did. And now that it’s thirty minutes till closing time, I’m tired of it. I was hoping to be finished with this return a few days ago, but I’m still rehashing the same kind of problems I thought I finished with last week.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll get this turned in.
Another cute thing about family businesses
My mother is downstairs right now, with her Christmas cards spread out in the conference room.
