(and someone’s first pair of blue jeans!)
Tags: c, katie, photosI feel great about how much stuff we got accomplished this weekend. The house looks 10x better than it did on Friday, and I got to have fun with Katie and baby C. I also caught up some on sleep, and we even made it to church this morning!
But I’ve got to whine. I am beyond happy that I found time this evening to clean out my closet. After Christmas I always need to find room for the new clothes and get rid of stuff I haven’t worn in a year … or haven’t been able to wear in years.
You see, I took a break from cleaning out my closet this evening to show off my nice suit. I got the suit a few years ago for a friend’s wedding, and that was probably the only time I’ve worn the thing. My friend had a brilliant idea for his groomsmen: instead of forcing everyone to pay out the ear for a tux for one evening, let’s all buy nice, tailored suits that we can use for years!
Except I wasn’t able to wear it for years. I’ve apparently grown some since that wedding not five years ago, and I’m not talking about my waistline.
My nice suit got used all of once. Maybe H will appreciate it.

Not surprisingly, I’m leaning towards option B.
Tags: baby, holiday, katie, nyeI miss being off the day after Christmas. Maybe next year I should save up a holiday for the 26th of December.
Today, Katie is at home cleaning, and I hope C is being helpful; the house is absolutely trashed. But I’m back at work.
I’d so love to be at home cleaning, holding the baby, and playing with my new toys. At least this is an easy week at work.

Whaddya think? Does C look like Katie at eight months?
Tags: c, katie, photoIt looks like C is down for her long nap of the day, so Katie left me here with the baby while she took the kids to their dad’s for the rest of their Christmas and break.
This morning we were up before six (although I cheated and went back to bed an hour and a half later). The house is trashed. I’d take a picture, but it wouldn’t do it justice. And I’m too lazy to find the camera under the torn wrappings, empty boxes, and other Christmas detritus. The kids partied hard, Christmas style. They played with loud games, and ran about the house, and tried out their new pogo sticks and rip sticks. We even had a helicopter flying around the house, in between chargings.
And that’s why it feels extra quiet in here now. Before there were three lively and boisterous children bounding about the house. Now the only sounds are my fingers on the keyboard and the baby lightly snoring in the other room.
Tonight Katie is working until 11. She has tomorrow off, and I’m hoping she’ll be able to find our coffee table under the rubble. I’m also hoping she won’t be too sad in this suddenly quiet house.
Tags: baby, christmas, family, home, katie, kids, mess, quiet houseI convinced Katie that I should take the baby to work with me today, so I’m happy. She’s sitting beside me right now in her little bouncy seat, although I can tell its usefulness is waning. Katie is going to spend the day running errands in the car C hates, and I think C wouldn’t love helping her mama coordinate E’s school Christmas party, either.
But she’ll love hanging out with us at work today. Yay.
Tags: baby, car, christmas, katie, officeIt’s funny. I just realized yesterday that I’m going to have a four day weekend. But because it’s Christmas, I won’t be getting any more sleep than a regular weekend. Katie has to work on Monday, and I’ll bet C will have me up by seven at the latest. And something tells me we won’t be sleeping in on Christmas morning.
Note to self: talk to Katie about Christmas morning!
Tags: baby, christmas, day off, katie, sleepNot that I’m biased or anything, but I’m already hooked on KnoxvilleTalks. I don’t have the chance to read a lot of stuff while I’m at work, so KT helps me stay up on what’s going on.
I know that sounds like a cheesy ad or something, but it’s true. And I still think it’s funny that Katie started this project on her week off. I only wish she could post more!
Tags: blogging, katie, knoxvilletalksWhen I got home, Katie was already here. I thought I’d be here first, but she was sick in bed and gladly handed over the four-month-old. How sick did she feel? When I joked that she was just trying to have some time to herself, she looked at me like I’d slapped her.
Oops! You have to pick your battles, and you also have to know when to be completely serious.
