Love having a fire place
We have had a fire going all day today, and it has been wonderful.
(Cue C saying “Day!”)
Looks like a good night for a fire
I love that it’s mid May, and I just realized I could have a nice fire going tonight.
I do think it’s going to be too chilly to enjoy our front porch.
Snow and fire
Last night, we had a huge, wonderful fire in the fireplace, leaving me to wonder if it’ll be the last of the season (we often don’t have time during the week – there’s little point when you get home within an hour of bed time). And now I’m looking out the window at what could only be described as a snow storm here in Sevier county. Is this the last throes of (pseudo) winter?
I made a fire last night
I made a fire last night, and I didn’t think to put on a clean pair of pants this morning. I keep wondering where the fire is.
Oops!
Just because I love cold weather
Just because I love cold weather doesn’t mean I love being cold. I’m having issues warming up enough to work this morning.
Next weekend, I will have the house all to myself, and I will setup my work in front of a nice fire.
But that’s a few days away, and I need to warm up now!
NYE plans
Well, after intending to do nothing tonight but watch television, Katie called me at work to say “let’s go have supper.”
And C the cutie-pie slept through the whole thing.
We also had the notion that we’d check out the crowd downtown after supper, but somewhere in there it got cold … which is why I’m now sitting by a good fire, watching a movie. Katie, of course, is asleep. But then I don’t have to work tomorrow.
Ahhhh
You know, don’t tell my wife, but holidays aren’t really my thing. I’m bigger on day-to-day stuff. I like weekends, vacations, and hanging out with family and friends. I’m never sure what to make of holidays.
But this morning I got to clean the house, hold the baby, have a great breakfast of eggs and bacon (thanks, Katie!), hang out with the kids, pet the cat, listen to music, sit by a nice fire, and generally have a nice time. I did have to let the fire die off after a while because I can’t justify the wood when it’s so warm outside. But that’s ok.
While holidays aren’t my thing, it’s a ton of fun watching the kids get worked up. And it’s fun remembering how excited I used to get. And the Christmas decorations sure do look nice.
Conflicting desires
You can’t have me time and fireplace time at the same time.
No pictures
Another downside to seeing baby C less this week is getting to take – and post – fewer pictures.
The rest of the family will be returning fairly late this evening. Luckily, that will give me time to get a good fire going and settle in a bit. But I’ll also have very little time with anybody before it’ll be time to throw in the towel for the day. At least not having the baby at work means I can sleep a bit later.
