I could get used to this

Parts of it, anyway.

This morning, I had to do one of those standard fasting visits to the doctor’s office. No big deal; I was in at 9:30 and out within the hour, and I’ve never minded giving a little blood.

But since it was nearly 11 by the time I got in the car and headed towards home, I was way past needing food. So I did what any sensible person would do: I went to Waffle House.

It was only the second time in my life I’ve found myself eating by myself at a WaHo. Let me tell you: WaHo does solo eating right. I brought my book in and read while waiting for my food, and then I chatted with the “locals” and the super-nice servers while I ate. It’s amazing how many regulars there are at a random Waffle House at 11 on Wednesday morning. And I thought it cool, too, when I noticed a middle schooler there with her grandmother, apparently sharing a summer break meal.

I could get used to some Wednesday morning WaHo time. There’s not much better food than a good bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, especially when it’s accompanied by some hash browns (covered and chunked, please) and a hot cup off coffee.

If the Bug will just stay asleep for a little longer.

It’s simply beautiful outside. I’m sitting on my front porch, reading my book, listening to some music, and enjoying the breeze.

Seriously, enough with the spiders already

Even though I’ve got a nice fire going inside, I’m sitting here on my front porch in the chilly, rainy evening, enjoying the weather and goofing around on the internet.

And twice now I’ve had a spider (one was at least an inch and a half long) join me in surfing the intertubes.

And I do not appreciate it.
