And we have electricity!

We’ve had the worst trouble keeping our dogs in our newly fenced in back yard. Obviously I’m talking about the two little dogs, not the soon-to-be-huge Leo pup. Katie had trouble at her old house - complete with chain link fence. For some reason, I naively thought a wooden fence might be better (not that that’s why we went with wood over metal). But unfortunately, that was not the case.

Once it became clear that no fence would hold the dogs for long, I knew what we had to do: it was electric fence time. It took us a while, but we finally got someone to string a line of electric wire around the bottom of the fence to discourage the dogs from digging. And it took him a while to get finished (you can’t rush quality work).

Incidentally, I still feel a bit guilty for not doing this job myself, but there are only so many chores you can do yourself in a house this size and age; sometimes you have to delegate. And he really did do a good job (he even put a new plug - dunno the technical term - under the back deck).

Anyway, the whole process was finally finished today, and I plugged it in when I got home.

And yes, I tested it. That should slow down the digging a bit, lemme tell you.

So I hear this morning that my sis-in-law and most of her family have either strep or some other infection. My first thought is symapthy, my second thought is “is this a headache coming on?”

Yay for me

I love it when I get to work and then discover the bleach stains on my shirt.

Yay for me.

And I love it when I can’t get to sleep at night even when I have to be up before six the next day.

Yay again.

Now about that nap….

So I took a nap this afternoon

I decided it was a guilt-free nap because I fell asleep getting the Bug down for her afternoon nap and because I helped her get back to sleep every time she awoke. I did it for the good of the whole, right?

Anyway, I don’t know how long I slept, all I know is I’m wide awake now. I tried to go to bed about an hour ago, but it just wasn’t happening.

I figure if I’ve got to be awake, I might as well be watching Platoon for the eightieth time.

I love Friday nights

I keep telling Katie that if she doesn’t stop me, I’m going to make wings every chance I get.

Sooner or later she’ll try to stop me … and then I’ll just make them for me!

Looks like a good night for a fire

I love that it’s mid May, and I just realized I could have a nice fire going tonight.

I do think it’s going to be too chilly to enjoy our front porch.

Does life stop when the baby’s not around?

I wonder why I rarely have anything to say on Fridays.

It is a lot quieter here with just us adult folks.

I figured out how she stands up

The Bug kept standing up in her pack n play, and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how she was doing it. Every time I turned around, she’d be standing up.

Well, it turns out she would shift to her knees, and from there she could reach the top rail and just pull herself up.

Interestingly, though, she still can’t sit up on her own. Whenever she ends up on her back or tummy, she fusses (not necessarily immediately, of course) until we put her in a sitting position. From there, the possibilities are endless.

She did it again!

I can’t quite figure out how the Bug is standing on her own in her pack n play, but it’s pretty dern cute.

One of these days, I’m going to catch her doing it, too.
