Random things you collect
I think lots of people have little random things they like to collect. I’ve known people who loved to buy decorative pillows, for instance, and others who have tons of hats they rarely wear.
Personally, I’ve always liked coffee mugs. I have several “favorite” mugs, and donating to WUOT was always more compelling because they give you a “free” mug.
That’s why I got excited when I saw the new WordPress mug. It’s a cool mug, it represents a cool product, and, as a mug aficionado, I appreciate that it’s not white on the inside like so many mugs (white stains and is hard to clean).
And then I realized the obvious: Mugs aren’t so useful to me these days. Oh well, it is a pretty cool mug.

Oh to be ten
E had baseball obligations on Saturday. Because Katie couldn’t be there, I had the honor of taking the boy to one ballpark for pictures and then to a different park for practice. In the car between the two practices, I heard E open a bottle and take a long drink. I assumed he had brought a drink or gotten one at the concession stand at the park, but I guess something didn’t seem quite right about that logic.
A while back - perhaps a month or two ago - I needed to use the van for taking recycling, so Katie used my car for her errands with the kids. I never let the kids have any food or drink in either car, because I know I’ll end up with trash in the car that I’ll have to clean up, but Katie has a soft spot for begging, so she’s been known to relent every now and then and let the kids have a treat.
Well, I’m guessing you can see where this is going. For the past several months, I’ve had a mostly full Sobe bottle rolling around in the back of my car. Whenever I’m driving, it’s annoying and I think about throwing it away the first chance I get, but when I park I forget about it. I finally remembered to take the bottle out this morning, because I put the Bug in her seat from a different side than usual.
And wouldn’t you know that the mostly full bottle on Friday - and the last six or eight Fridays - was completely empty this morning.
Oh to be ten.

I love our house. I am extremely happy with our luck in finding and buying it. I loved it from the first step I took inside the front door. I loved it from stepping on the front porch, but I tried not to get carried away. Even our realtor could tell that it was meant to be.
But one definite thing I don’t like about our house is the mosquito problem. With our yard backing up to a creek, we’re definitely in the mosquito zone. In the warm weather, they’re everywhere.
And this week they’ve found me. And my ankles, they itch.

One year in college I worked a four day week as a summer job, and it was definitely nice (the four days, not the job). If I worked four days instead of five - and I assume those would be four ten hour days - I’d drive about 2500 fewer miles a year, to the tune of 125 fewer gallons of gas.
Then I’d have to do some rearranging to figure out how to get home before 8 at night, but I’d also have a day a week at home with my girl and my puppy and my long house to-do list.

Looks like I’ve got a few more weeks before getting ours. Go see when you’re getting yours.
I know a lot of people are using their rebate checks to pay down debt, but I’m excited that our family will get a stress-free week at the beach this summer!
