Lucky me

March 8th, 2008 | 8 Comments

Tonight, C (who still lacks a good internet moniker - sorry, she’s just no Mongo (it’s not feminine enough, I guess)) really wanted her dad to put her to bed. She fussed and fussed and fussed. I’d made us a nice supper of wings, fries, and asparagus - asparagus goes really well with wings, as it turns out - and every bite Katie ate was with a fussy baby in her lap. Like I said, she fussed and fussed and fussed. Nothing was pleasing her. I even took her outside for a minute to snap her out of her fuss fest.

But what did it was my sitting down and feeding her a bit, and she went right off to sleep.

When I first started feeding her some, I was less than impressed. I was. It wasn’t that I didn’t love her, it’s just that I got little out of the feeding part. But now I love it. I love being able to hold her in my arms and make her feel happy. And I really love being able to get her to sleep. It’s not something every guy gets to experience, putting his baby down to sleep. And it’s a simply amazing feeling. And after a bit of her sleeping in my lap, I carried her into the bedroom and put her to bed.

Lucky me.

What he said

Contrary to the News Sentinel’s front page headline today (”Republicans decided, Democrats divided”) and lame right-wing talking points about the big rift in the Democratic party, what this primary is showing is that Democrats can field two strong candidates who can energize the party and put up record turnout numbers nationwide.

Meanwhile, the best candidates the GOP can come up with are Mitt, Rudy, Fred, Chucklebee, and their eventual nominee… McCain?

Nashville is laming

Nashville is talking has apparently turned into little more than an aggregator … an aggregator that someone clearly put a lot of work into, but still just an aggregator.

Lame.

One of C’s new favorite things: toy baskets.

My mother loves to sit her down with a basket of toys, where C will take all the toys out of the basket, one at a time, closely examining each toy before dropping it beside her. When all of the toys are out of the basket, my mom refills it and C starts again.

It’s unbelievably adorable.

Thank goodness for paperweights

I should be outside right now - at least that’s what the sun and wind are telling me. Luckily for me, I can (and do) open all my windows on nice days like today.

Thank goodness for paperweights.

Not enough caffeine in the world

March 3rd, 2008 | 7 Comments

I feel utterly exhausted today. I didn’t sleep well last night - C has been really fussy in her sleep for the last few weeks - and I did just enough heavy lifting over the weekend for my muscles to feel a little tired, too.

It’s a good thing I got a lot done this weekend, because I’m moving slooow today.
