Lucky me
Tonight, C (who still lacks a good internet moniker - sorry, she’s just no Mongo (it’s not feminine enough, I guess)) really wanted her dad to put her to bed. She fussed and fussed and fussed. I’d made us a nice supper of wings, fries, and asparagus - asparagus goes really well with wings, as it turns out - and every bite Katie ate was with a fussy baby in her lap. Like I said, she fussed and fussed and fussed. Nothing was pleasing her. I even took her outside for a minute to snap her out of her fuss fest.
But what did it was my sitting down and feeding her a bit, and she went right off to sleep.
When I first started feeding her some, I was less than impressed. I was. It wasn’t that I didn’t love her, it’s just that I got little out of the feeding part. But now I love it. I love being able to hold her in my arms and make her feel happy. And I really love being able to get her to sleep. It’s not something every guy gets to experience, putting his baby down to sleep. And it’s a simply amazing feeling. And after a bit of her sleeping in my lap, I carried her into the bedroom and put her to bed.
Lucky me.

As I try to name every child born into the blogosphere Mongo, is she still a Charlotte or a Charley?
I’m quite smitten with my Charley.
I will say, as an aunt who kinda filled a role of being the (ah-hem) mature role in her life after my mom died, the one thing I loved was feeding these kids.
And as an ADD girl from way back, I found they liked to sleep on me when they were little which gave me so much joy as it was so unexpected.
Loving seeing, from the other side of the state, C. grow.
I mostly call her Charlotte, but she’s also a Charley and a Charley Bug and a Charley bear and….
I love babies sleeping on your chest. Nothing better. Unfortunately, I haven’t had that in a while.
And I hope my Charley will meet you IRL at some point.
She’s our Charley Bear too. But she’s a very girly girl. Our code name, the one we use when it’s just her and I, is Chuck.
She laughs over this.
So do I.
Yeah, and our Charley can’t be Bear online because of you, thanks so much.
But I don’t think I’ll ever call her Chuck, thanks all the same (not positive associations).
We’re still waiting to see ou girly girl our Charley (with a y, also thanks to you, thank you very much w/o sarcasm) will be.
Oh, you can call her Bear. Bug is good though. I dig it.
The thing with Chuck is a private joke between her and I. that is the wonderfulness of it. The older niece is ACE. (Her name is Asa.)
The niece is eight and wears heels. Can’t get much more girly than that. She also like to fix my hair with blue streaks. I let her. It blocks out the gray.
(She is so unlike her Aunt Tick **that’s what she calls me**)
Dang, I love these kids.
I tried bug, but the wife nixed it. And like I said, there’s already a bear.
I like Asa, btw. But the wife also nixed that.
(as a guy name, though.)
Blue streaks are good. So is aunt tick for a niece bear.
Since you make wings so much….DO SHARE YOUR WAYS PLEASE!
Um, remind me when tax season is over.
