It’s like I’m punished for napping
July 25, 2007 ·
Our office has a policy that naps are ok, and it’s a good policy. I take a quick nap after work, and assuming it doesn’t get too hot in here, I feel better for the rest of the day.
But over the last few months, I’ve been having carpal tunnel problems with my right wrist. I’ve mostly gotten it under control, but nothing seems to keep my right hand from falling asleep when I nap.
Now, when I wake from a nap, my right hand tingles for 10-15 minutes. It’s not pleasant.

Use a splint that holds your wrist in a neutral position. I had a big problem with this almost two years ago and it worked for me really well. I used it at work AND when I slept. Then I had to use it less and less. Now I don’t remember where it is. Linen closet?
I have one, but it doesn’t seem to work when I’m napping. I’m not sure why not.
I’ve heard they sell better ones at Baptist Health Center, but there’s not one of those nearby.
