Blogger loving

April 27th, 2007, at 3:30 PM

I just noticed that blogger just locked Katie’s blog.

Your blog is locked

Blogger’s spam-prevention robots have detected that your blog has characteristics of a spam blog. (What’s a spam blog?) Since you’re an actual person reading this, your blog is probably not a spam blog. Automated spam detection is inherently fuzzy, and we sincerely apologize for this false positive.

We received your unlock request on April 27, 2007. On behalf of the robots, we apologize for locking your non-spam blog. Please be patient while we take a look at your blog and verify that it is not spam.

Find out more about how Blogger is fighting spam blogs.

Blogger is something special, isn’t it? I love how a ‘bot locked Katie’s blog because it thought it was a ‘bot. And it takes several days to unlock the blog. And if you don’t happen to log in that week? Your blog is gone.

Yep, I got one of those once too. But it unlocked it right away - that is access to posting more. The blog was always visible online.

I host my own content on my blogger blog.
When I post a blog for the day it uploads it to my own server at my own hosting company.

If they lock it and delete my files off of my server. I’d… explode, or (insert something aweful here).

Katie should find a way to back everything up once in a while for sanity reasons!!

Right now, they’re not letting Katie back anything up, because the blog is frozen.

Why do you back up your blogger blog? Why don’t you just use wordpress or some other blogging platform?

I don’t get what “spammer characteristics” her blog has unless it is the Amazon links. Blogger reallys sucks badly.

Will she be moving over to WordPress?

  6. AT says:

Man, I’d go off on one of my “blogger sucks” rants, but its been done too many times before. Can’t you sell the girl on Wordpress?

  7. jon says:

Well, right now I’m working on katie.jonathanhickman.com, which should host everything and be katieallisongranju.com soon, depending on when blogger allows me to import her posts and depending on dotster’s slow ass for dns stuff.

So yeah, I think she’s finally had enough, too. I think she’ll be switched over by Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

Her blog has absolutely zero spam characteristics that I know of, and it’s ridiculous that they freeze it until a person looks at it. I could see saying she was under review or something, but not freezing it while it’s under review. That’s just bull. And it’s even worse that it would be automatically deleted in a week if she hadn’t happened to login for a week (what if we were on vacation? if she had just given birth?).

I think I know how to get you into the account. Give me a jingle. I don’t want to post it online for fear that they change it until I’m done with my old “deleted” account.
