My wife rocks!

This is what she just said to me:
I’m serious. I’ve decided to let you name the baby.
![]()
We both like
- Charlotte
- Georgia
- Clara
- Annabel
- Catherine
- Emma
… I hereby turn the decision over to her father. You will always be able to tell her you chose her special name. I do hope I can have input on the middle name, but go for it on the first name!
And I will not be changing my mind on this. It’s your call and I will happily accept it.

With a list like that, you can’t make a bad choice. Now, practice saying each one a thousand times and see which one sounds right.

Good advice!

Oh my gosh JON, what an amazing gift from your wife!!! That is just the sweetest thing I’ve heard all day…

Beautiful names! For what it’s worth I think I like these two the best:
Georgia Anabel
and
Emma Catherine
But then her initials would be either GAH or ECH…. hmmmm..
Anabel Charlotte also runs off the tongue very well. I can hear her mom yelling it now.
Aren’t you glad Brittany invited me over?

Catherine - I know! She’s awesome.
March 30th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Lu - I’m absolutely glad she invited you over.
(and I, too, am trying to avoid GAH.)

Well, obviously I’m partial to # 5.
If only you’d spell it correctly….
March 30th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Wait, she did spell it with a C….

Eliminate Georgia and Emma because of the similarities to Jane and Elliot. Skip k/Catherine because of the association with Henry. Charlotte’s my favorite that’s left except for Amabel, which I came across recently. And, CONGRATULATIONS!

What’s the Henry/Catherine association?

(and I, too, am trying to avoid GAH.)
But it’s a ready-made name for future KnoxBlabbing! GAH, daughter of JAH… she’ll be hanging out Blabbing with Fluffy Jr., Zoller and the gang.
I do have a bit of partiality to Georgia because Ms. Georgia is so cool.
I wonder, though, if very many girls named Georgia wind up getting called George, like the lead character on the now-defunct Showtime series Dead Like Me. Tho that’s kind of cool too.

All are good strong names; she can grow into any of them and not feel like her parents were idiots and lost their mind when naming her (as my daughter feels about me). *-)>
Catherine is Katherine. Do not do this to your child
Have your favorites in mind and wait until you meet her, you will know what to call her.

Skip k/Catherine because of the association with Henry. … What’s the Henry/Catherine association?
I think the other Correctly Spelled Katherine is referring to Henry VII’s marriage to Catherine of Aragon, Elizabeth I’s mother.
Wait, she did spell it with a C….
I joke…but those of us who are Katherine purists –pun– would point out that “Katherine” is derived from the Greek Aikaterine. It ran through the Romans Katharos, which means ‘pure’. (hence the pun)
Anyway, the Greeks didn’t have a ‘c’ in their alphabet, and in Rome the ‘c’ was a number.
So, us Katherine purists stick to our guns on spelling it with a ‘k’.
Of course, none of us speak Latin, so it’s a pretty arrogant position..;-p

Hey, I went through life with initials that spelled GAS and it toughened me up!
Most of the time, girls don’t use a monogram with initials in a straight configuration… the sirname is in the middle. So, it was really gSa- no prob.
My full name’s worth of initials is GAMS. Which, a few people did call me- and in my lifetime, I only received one item with all the intials engraved on it.
No one ever made fun of me over my initials. I’m guessing I gave them too much other material to work with that they didn’t need to dig that deeply.
I was called George by my family along with G.A., G.G., Peanut and Junebug.

I’ve actually always been jealous of people with good initials, although JAH isn’t so bad.

Elizabeth I was not the daughter of Catherine of Aragon. She was the daughter of Anne Boleyn. Mary was the daughter of Catherine.
