Blogger is lamer

January 2, 2007 ·

That title is lamest.

I’ve seen more and more blogs fleeing blogger lately. I continue trying to get someone else to do likewise.

And then my feed reader said this blogger is talking about fleeing to higher ground, too. That’s good, since you can only read it right now in a reader.

Man, I’ve hated Blogger for some time. Its the AOL of blogs.

I’m trying hard to talk Frank into fleeing the evil scourge, I think Newscoma’s been leaning on him too. :)

Man, if you can talk Katie into it, she will LOVE WP. My only con about it is the not being able to use Javascript, but I didn’t use much Java before anyway and I’m not really missing it.

And, if she’s going to (hopefully) make the jump, she needs to do it before switching to New Blogger since you can’t import old posts from New, only Old. (And it is soooo easy to import the old stuff, it took me very little time to import nearly a decade’s worth of blogging.)

Hope you can talk her into fleeing the evil B scourge!!!

(PS – And since Blogger may switch people to New any day now without them making the choice on their own – talk her into fast before it’s too late to import her old Blogger stuff elsewhere!)

I like Blogger a lot. It’s never gven me any problems :-)

You can use javascript all you want. The only catch is you have to pay for hosting. :)

I think Katie would like it, too, but she’s had exceptionally good luck with blogger. And she was one of the first to move to beta, too, so there’s that.

But like you see, she refuses to listen to my sage advice. ;)

Oh, I didn’t realize she’d already made the switch to Beta. Eek. :D

Well, I totally agree with you on this one, Jon. I honestly did not expect to be all that impressed with WordPress – impressed, but not SUPER impressed – but my appreciation of it goes way beyond super impressed now. It is absolutely awesome.

Katie, I promise I won’t say “I told you so” if your blog goes disappearing like poor Frank’s has twice (or three times?) now… ;)

Come into the light… WordPress loves you… WordPress wants to be your friend… :D

Yeah, we wordpress users like to say that wordpress has “usability” and has actual “features.” Bells and whistles, even.

And some very useful plugins, too.

I’m still learning the bells and whistles but I lost my blog a couple of times last year.
Yeah, I’m digging WordPress if I can just figure it all out.

It took me a long time to give up on Blogger. I kept hoping they would get their act together. I loved the initial version, but things have just gotten worse and worse.

Every new feature bring a boatload of problems along with it, and the “features” they added are half-baked at best. Truly sad.

    “Its the AOL of blogs.”

That is so true, in many ways. It was a great way to get a great many people into it (much like AOL brought the “less technical” to the Internet), but somehow fell out of touch with reality and lost their edge.

I expected so much more when they were acquired by Google, but just goes to show that just being part of Google is not “magic”

  11. [...] On January 2nd I mentioned that Latte Man moved to WordPress. I should have also mentioned that Newscoma has moved to WordPress! Update your marks. Find Newscoma at http://newscoma.com/. Jon is still trying to get Katie to make the move away from Blogger. [...]
